QUETTA: As the country fights growing terrorism, seven different bombs — three in Quetta, two in Turtbat, and one each in Hub and Kohlu district — tore through Balochistan, killing five soldiers and injuring more than a dozen others, officials said on Sunday.
An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a "leading party" in Kohlu district's Kahan region while an intelligence-based clearance operation, which has been under progress since December 24, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Five troops embraced martyrdom as a result, according to the military's media wing: Captain Fahad, Lance Naik Imtiaz, Sepoy Asghar, Sepoy Mehran, and Sepoy Shamoon.
According to the ISPR, who described the incident as a "externally perpetrated threat of terrorism," "such shameful activities by unfriendly groups cannot ruin the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan."
According to the military's media wing, the security forces are still committed to thwarting their evil plans, "even at the expense of blood and deaths."
After the event, a sanitization effort was started in the neighbourhood to catch the criminals, according to the ISPR.
Unknown males then fired a grenade at a police checkpoint in Satellite Town of Quetta this evening, injuring eight people—three officers and five bystanders—police said.
According to law enforcement, there were allegations of a second grenade at the detonation site, which prompted the call for the bomb disposal unit.
Two hand grenades were thrown on the road, one of which exploded while the other was defused, according to the Quetta police.
The police stated that they were figuring out what kind of explosion it was. The law enforcement officials noted that the injured were sent to the city's Bolan Medical Complex Hospital.
The police said that a blast occurred in the vicinity of Turbat's Taleemi Chowk area earlier in the evening, but no casualties were reported.
Further investigations are being conducted, and the security forces have sealed off the productive areas.
