According to reliable sources, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), has been charged with stopping the Punjab Assembly from being dissolved by the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The matter was discussed in several meetings between Shujaat Hussain, Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The sources claimed that PM Shehbaz and Asif Zardari decided to wait till they heard from Shujaat Hussain before getting in touch with Parvez Elahi.

After the huddle, Zardari also contacted Hussain and they talked about possible ways to thwart the PTI's agenda.

The situation in Punjab was discussed during the meeting between the prime minister and the co-chairman of the PPP, according to PML-Attaullah N's Tarar in a press conference.

He said that the meeting covered every possible constitutional option, including the vote of confidence. A final decision in this regard would be made, according to the PML-N leader, at his party's meeting tomorrow.

The provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be dissolved on December 23, as Imran Khan had stated the day before.

PM Shehbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, leader of the PML-Q and chief minister of Punjab, reached an understanding earlier today to further bolster their bilateral collaboration in an effort to help the nation escape the current situation.

The meeting between the prime minister and the PML-Q leader took place at the latter's home in Lahore, where the development took place.

A statement claims that PM Shehbaz visited Shujaat Hussain and asked how he was doing. Mutually beneficial topics and the nation's present political climate were discussed throughout the meeting.

According to the announcement, Hussain praised the premier's efforts to revive the economy and offer assistance to the general public. Additionally, he praised the prime minister for taking action to guide the nation and its citizens away from the issues.

Both leaders concurred that "close cooperation [between PML-N and PML-Q] is essential for political stability and guiding the country out of the current situation."

The conference was attended by federal ministers Tariq Bashir Cheema, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.
