The federal cabinet instructed the relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive plan to prevent such a widespread blackout in the future a day after the country was hit by a massive breakdown that left more than 220 million people without electricity and resulted in tens of millions of dollars in industry losses.
The blackout happened on a day in winter when Islamabad and Karachi are expected to see lows of 4 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively. According to information, a fuel conservation strategy taken by the government went wrong, causing a significant blackout to occur across the nation.
Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir stated: "As an economic measure, we temporarily shut down our power generation systems [Sunday night]" in a Monday interview with local media. He continued, "A "fluctuation in voltage" was seen when the engineers attempted to turn the systems back on, causing the government to shut down the power grid stations."
In order to encourage people to adopt these behaviours, the cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a national public awareness campaign.
Best global practises for energy saving were also recommended for inclusion in the school curriculum during the meeting.
It was claimed that initiatives to conserve energy at the public, private, residential, and business sectors would aid in lowering the import cost for petroleum products, which had significantly climbed during the previous seven years.
The massive power outage that occurred on Monday infuriated the prime minister, who declared that he would not put up with similar occurrences in the future.

Premier Shehbaz also demanded that the source of the power outage, which has hampered both the general populace and the corporate sector, be identified and corrected. He also gave instructions on figuring out what caused the power outage and how to stop it from happening again.
A committee established by the prime minister had begun its work, it was announced to the cabinet meeting, and it would present a thorough report once it had considered all the relevant facts.
